Using the Camera tool to make a jigsaw puzzle

If your IWB software has an image capture tool, then you  can create your own jigsaws out of pictures or text. Simply take shots of small portions of the image to make up your pieces. The Activstudio Camera Tool remembers where you took the last shot and then allows you to move one part of the capture window.

If you don’t have this function, you might want to rule thin lines over the top of your image, to guide you when you capture the image.

Using activotes with a website

I’ve been having lots of fun trying the new features of Activotes, Promethean’s voting devices. They can be used with any whiteboard systemand open up the possibilities in your classroom.

They work well with your flipcharts, but one of the features I particularly like is the ability to use them over other applications.

I’ve chosen the BBC’s History Viking Quest for this example. It has a number of choices in the game which provide a ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ feel – perfect for Activotes!

Use the Annotate over Desktop button on your main toolbar once you’ve launched the site. When a multiple choice question appears in the game, write ‘a’, ‘b’, ‘c’ etc underneath the buttons. Then start the voting. You can then make choices for your class based on the majority vote.
